Today I wanted to share a few of the moves from my current workout plan. I’m on week 4 of 6 and I’ve already noticed an improvement in my strength and endurance. Here’s some of the moves from the program.

Thee easy, homemade face masks made with powerful manuka honey! These DIY honey face masks are perfect for hydrating, brightening, or getting a boost of antioxidants.
Over the years I’ve become slightly obsessed with face masks. They’re by far my favorite thing to treat myself with when I stop by the Whole Foods beauty section (and kombucha, of course).
A few months ago I read an article from Lily of Kale and Caramel about washing your face with honey. w Not only was I intrigued, but I had also just been sent several jars of New Zealand manuka honey to try, which has now become my favorite honey on the planet. Yes, it’s a little more expensive, but also completely worth it because of the various ways you can apply it to your every day life. I eat a tablespoon before a workout for energy, put it in tea or my golden milk lattes, add it to smoothies and even use it for skin care.
The benefits of Manuka honey
Manuka honey. This is the star of the show in each of these homemade face masks. Manuka honey is native to New Zealand and has been used in the natural health world for many years. Manuka honey contains an extraordinary enzyme called methylglyoxal (MGO), which helps give it a strong antibacterial and antiviral effect. This property is unique to Manuka honey and is not found in any other type of honey. We use is as the base of our 3 face masks here because it has excellent moisturizing and detoxifying benefits.
Besides using it on your face (and even in your hair) manuka honey is great for:
improving your immune system + helping soothe a sore throat
helping with acid reflux and IBS symptoms (great for your gut!)
reducing seasonal allergy symptoms
and promoting restful sleep
healing acne + repairing skin
I typically use Comvita or Wedderspoon brands because they’re trustworthy. I believe that Trader Joe’s also carries a manuka honey. If you want to learn more about manuka honey and why it’s great for your skin, I highly recommend checking out this article from MindBodyGreen.
Please note that these particular face masks don’t necessarily require that you use manuka, but if you have it available, I do recommend giving it a try.
DIY Face Masks
We had so much fun creating these homemade face masks for you guys. They’re made with simple ingredients that you probably even have in your fridge + pantry right now (aka easy AND inexpensive skincare!)
Hydrating mask: Add avocado, banana, honey and probiotic-packed yogurt together for a boost of hydration. The natural oils from the avocado help to moisturize any dry patches and leaves you with a nice, glowy complexion.
Leave this mask on for 10-15 minutes. If you have extra, you can use it as a hair mask for your roots!
Brightening mask: the baking soda + lemon juice combination is great for clearing up blemishes and even extracting blackheads. Combine that with turmeric, which is used for treating acne, diminishing wrinkles, and even creating a nice exfoliant, and you’ve got yourself the ultimate skin-brightening combo.
Be sure to keep it away from your eyebrows and don’t leave it on for more than 10 minutes. Afterwards I suggest wiping your face with a cloth you don’t mind getting a little turmeric stained.
Anti-inflammatory mask: we used everyone’s favorite trendy coffee shop order – matcha. Matcha is a an antioxidant packed green tea that has tons of anti-inflammatory properties. This mask will give your skin a nice detox while hydrating with the manuka honey and coconut oil.
Leave this mask on for 10-15 minutes before washing.
Call up your friends, get a fun girl’s night on the calendar, and make these three DIY honey face masks! They’re excellent paired with a glass of your fav rosé, just sayin’.
I have a confession. I have not been counting my Weight Watchers points. Yes, I joined Weight Watchers 3 weeks ago and said I was going to be committed but I totally lied. I have been eating way to many BBQ potatoe chips (my fav) and whatever else my heart desired, however; I am making a PROMISE to you all I am sticking to my points from now on.
My workouts have been on point but for some reason I am having a mental issue with counting my points but that’s about to change. I went grocery shopping last night and bought a whole bunch of low point food.
\Guess what I did on Saturday? I skied for the first time since I broke my hip in July and it was so good, however; I paid for it on Sunday as my legs were sore and swollen. That’s ok I really enjoyed being out there on the slopes.
On Sunday we had 90th birthday party for a really good family friend, it was at the Oyster Point in Red Bank which overlooks the Navesink River. It was so pretty and really nice to spend the day with my friends. I may or may not had too many mimosas.
When I got home my mom made a bunch of appetizers for us to eat during the Oscars. How good was Gaga and Bradley? OMGosh I love the two of them together, please make babies!
Skiing was the only workout I did this weekend and that’s ok. I was actually being really hard on myself for skipping my workouts this weekend and then gave myself a reality check. Why are we hardest on ourselves? It’s ok to skip a workout once in a while, no one is perfect. All that matters is that I pick it up again on Monday (which I totally will!).
I am going to be doing a new series on Friday called”Megan Motivates Week In Review”. Typically, it will be a summary of my week broken down into lifestyle and fitness with pictures from my week. I hope you enjoy it.
I decided to start my first boot-camp challenge group as a heath and wellness coach on March 18h. It will be an all women three boot-camp. We will support, push, and hold each other accountable during these three weeks. I have seen some of the results people have had doing this programs and they are pretty amazing. With summer right around the corner I am really excited to get in better shape and hopefully loose these last five pounds.
This week was all about finding an apartment. I visited a lot of apartments that were way too much money or way too small but guess what I found one yesterday! Yay! It’s about 50 feet from the beach and really open and clean. It’s the perfect apartment for me. I already have my pinterest board filled with ideas. I can’t wait to show you how I decorate.
Guess what? my liquid gold (pre-workout) now comes in Fruit Punch and I cannot wait to try it. I am so excited! I love the lemonade flavor but I bet the fruit punch is even better. If anyone would like to purchase it, e-mail me and I can get it ordered for you right away.
This was week three of my workout program and I am starting to see results both on the scale and in my body. So far I lost 6 pounds and I am starting to see some definition in my legs. Yay! I love how the program is only 20 minutes of my day. If anyone would like to hear more information about the program I am doing please shoot me an e-mail. I didn’t get to my weekly yoga or barre class this week because most of my week was spent shopping for apartments. Oh well at least I got my program in all six days.

Rosehip Seed Oil: If you aren’t using Rosehip oil, you should be. It’s wonderful for hydrating, but it’s a dry skin so normally it doesn’t cause problems for acne-prone skin. I’ve used this particular brand for YEARS. It’s cold-pressed and organic so I really trust it. I use this after I put on a serum and before I put on a moisturizer. Sometimes I mix it in with my moisturizer too if my skin feels extra dry.
Trilogy Make Up Be Gone Cleansing Balm: I LOVE this for taking off my makeup. It’s thicker than coconut oil (which I use sometimes) and doesn’t make your skin feel greasy. It’s also incredibly nourishing thanks to shea butter. And it will last you FOREVER because you only need about 1 teaspoon. Highly recommend!

Happy Monday. I hope you enjoyed my post from earlier today on my story. This morning I woke up and had celery juice and liquid gold. You can see my post on the benefits of drinking celery juice here.
This morning’s dance was to Bruce’s Glory Days. This is such a great song and I could not think of a better song to get me excited to workout. This is the start of week 3 of my workout program and can’t say it enough, I am loving this workout program. 20 minutes a goes so fast and I have already seen incredible results. I can’t wait to see what the next four weeks bring.

During that time, my self-esteem was shot. I lost too much weight, too quickly, and that number on the scale would yo-yo. Up down, up down. Since I could never maintain the ‘perfect’ diet or ‘ideal’ weight I which I now know don’t exist – I was caught in a toxic cycle. Food governed my life in an unhealthy way, and I tormented myself by bingeing and then restricting myself with food.
I thought that being thin would make me more lovable. Looking back, it had the opposite effect. It didn’t make me feel any more loved by others, and I definitely didn’t love myself.
I used find to reward and punish myself.
I always compared myself to others.
I channelled all that self-hate into my body, and my body became my biggest burden.
It was time-consuming, stressful and incredibly exhausting.
On the outside, I ‘had it all’ – but the sad thing was, the amazing things about my life isn’t matter, because I was distracted by the endless and futile pursuit to be perfect.
Then, something clicked. I realize hating on my body was affecting everything, so I committed to understanding what nutrition was all about. When I learned how the body actually works my mentally changed.
Fast forward to now, and I’m a completely different person. I’ve taken-control of my life, my eating habits, and my thoughts.
I freed myself from all consuming obsession with food and found balance.
Today I have a gentle approach to nutrition, health and wellbeing. It’s as simple as this: I listen tp my body and give exactly what it needs. I enjoy a whole food, balanced diet, and I’m kind to myself.

When someone mentions Beachbody, whether you’re familiar with the workouts or not, you probably think of P90X, Tony Horton, and maybe Insanity with Shaun T.
You also might think of using a DVD player to watch these workouts.
That is sooooo 2008.
In 2015 with a great, forward-thinking move for the company, Beachbody officially joined the video streaming world. Seeing the societal shift towards streaming technology like the Amazon Fire Stick, Google Chromecast, Roku, and our smartphones, they decided to ditch the DVD’s and allow people access to their popular workouts via smart technology. They still produce and sell the DVD’s that made the company so popular in the home fitness market, but now offer streaming workouts in addition to the DVD’s and let me tell you it’s like the Netflix of fitness.
The streaming techonology allows customers access to over 700 workouts, including the entire library of Beachbody workouts while the company enjoys your payment on an annual basis rather than once every few years with a DVD workout. Win-win for everyone.

And many, many more. In addition to these and several other workouts, you’ll get access to Beachbody’s expert trainers. Including Tony Horton, ShaunT, Chalene Johnson, Autumn Calabrese, and many others.
You can access the workouts with any streaming device: the Fire Stick, Chromecast, Roku, or any streaming device, including your iPad, tablet, and computer. I currently use a Roku TV to stream my workouts.
There is a Beachbody On Demand app that makes access to the workouts really easy. They put a lot of thought into the app and have convenient navigation features that make it super easy and fun to use.
For example…when you open the app on your phone you immediately see two things. First is a personalized welcome message telling you to get back to the workout you most recently finished. And second, is a number that tells you how many other Beachbody On Demand subscribers are currently using the app to workout. A cool feature that tells me that I’m not the only one languishing through a workout at 5 AM.
As you scroll down through the app you’ll see “Recently Watched” workouts, then the complete library of workouts which I think is organized by their current, most popular programs.Finally you reach the workouts organized by trainer where you can choose your workout based on your favorite Beachbody fitness personality. Similar to the workout programs, I think this is organized by popularity.
One more nice feature of the app is that you can stream the workouts or download. If you download the workouts they are saved within the app and available with easy access at any time. This is a nice feature because my internet connection isn’t the greatest in my basement home gym, so the streaming tends to buffer. If I download a workout I don’t have this problem.
If you like to monitor your heart rate while exercising, the BBOD even has an option to sync each workout to your heart rate monitor or fitness tracker. You can sync the workouts to your Apple Watch or Wahoo Tickr X heart rate monitor. I personally don’t use heart rate monitors so I can’t tell you how well this works, but it is a nice additional feature.
For each of the workout programs you’ll get access to the workout calendars, fitness guides, nutrition plans, and progress trackers. Basically everything that comes with the DVD’s, you’ll be able to download immediately for quick and convenient access.
